What's A Bug To Do??

Recently, at school, the upper class man (that includes me because we don't have seniors this year) have been taking all of the mock tests for the ACT and SAT. And I'm not going to lie.. I pretty much rocked the tests. So much that I'm already starting to get contacted by schools and stuff like that, saying they are interested. I know every high school kid goes this at least a couple times.. But these colleges in particular are a few of the only other colleges I've ever considered going to besides BYU. WHAT'S A BUG TO DO?? I know where I should go, and where my family wants me to go. But what about all of these other opportunities and options I have. I don't want to limit myself, yet I don't want to go to a college that will cause me to do things that maybe I wouldn't do attending a Mormon college (although I know I wouldn't do them). See my dilemma? It's never too early to pick this stuff out, and start deciding. As a matter of fact, it's a perfect time. Ugh!

I'm really not liking this whole church starts at one and ends at four thing.

Love, Hunter Bug

  1. Oh I hate those choices, I actually still remember the crazy stress I had over the exact same dilema...where to go....good luck! I know you'll come to the right choice for you with time. You've been taught well, are surrounded by people who love you and want whats best for you, and a Heavenly Father who will answer your prayers...Remember sometimes the best way to get an answer is to do all you can and then "be still..and know that I am God" Love you ! 2. I have nothing more to add...your Aunt Tanya said it perfectly. I will be keeping you in my prayers, hoping you don't feel too stressed. You will make the right choice.
    Congratulations!

I attended four different colleges/universities when I was going for my degree. Every year brought different changes in my life (beginning with joining the LDS Church my freshman year of college). This includes my transfer to one particularly large university in Provo, after I learned that is "where all the good Mormons go."

I made good choices and poorer choices everywhere I lived. It is no different than the life I live now. I do absolutely believe your environment has an imput in your decision-making, but it is similar to saying that "all the good Mormons" live in Utah. Those great choices you are going to make come from within you, and your heart's desires.

Aubrey hit it on the head. Pray to know God's plan for you. There are zillions of great LDS kids who want to go to the great University (I am assuming that what you are talking about) who are not accepted or decline their invitation because Heavenly Father wants or needs them somewhere else. Perhaps that is part of his plan for you.

Whereever you head and attend, you will be a great asset. The world needs the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it makes perfect sense to me that a great kid like you could be used anywhere to be a part of His plan to share it. :)

  4. I went to BYU and enjoyed myself, but I never prayed to know if that was the right decision. I just always wanted to go so I did. I don't regret going, but I do wish that my parents had encouraged me to pray about it so that I would have the confidence that I was doing exactly what the Lord wanted me to do. Had I prayed about it, I most likely would have gone to BYU anyway. Because I was there my life unfolded in a way that it probably wouldn't have somewhere else. Both Chad and I went to BYU at different times and actually met in KC. As long as you are prayerful and confident that you are doing what is right you will be blessed with great opportunities to serve and meet wonderful people. You have so many great talents that are uniquely yours. You will be a great friend and example to many wherever you decide to attend. Congrats on doing so well on your tests!

  5. Pray and go where your heart leads you...I know what your parents choice would be and while I have to respect that, remember that there is a whole wide world of Mormons out there going to all different sorts of schools. As long as you remain true to what you believe, you can stay strong no matter what part of the country you are living in - I am a strong believer in going to the school that will be the most recognized in whatever you get your degree in.

Prayer...always gives you a humble answer!
